Truus van den Heuvel experiments and plays with materials, form and structure. Her serene installations and 3D works depart from this origin.
The installations have a clear structure and consist of uncomplicated transparent forms. These forms are hanging in space. They are made of tactile materials. The visitor is challenged to look at the work with concentrated attention. The installations are permanently changing when one walks around within them. This is because of changing perspectives and changing daylight, but also because the forms are moving slightly in the air. The working of space, light and movement creates associations with nature.
Boazum 2014, A triangle shaped structure of synthetic cones on hoops, connected by slats of acrylic glass, around 650x650x47 cm.
The copula form is frequently used at the cemetery Brandenburg in de Bilt, The Netherlands. The roof of the central building and the pruned evergreens all have this form. In contrast with these dark, rigid, earth directed copulas, there are white, heaven directed calices that seem to be floating in the air.
